Latency issues (gaming and general)

Past week or so there have been multiple latency issues while gaming on the PS5 or in general. Typically while gaming, I would average 30-50 ping but this past week I’ve been averaging 150ms and sometimes it may even spike to 600ms depending on the game. Also, I’ve experienced some packet loss and the game stuttering, freezing at certain points.

Through visiting the router through 192.168.1.1 on my web browser, I headed over to System Information which displayed 2.4g (201mbps) and 5g (1201mbps) which isn’t representative at all as I have just done a test on Ookla which said 450mbps. I’m not sure if download speed determines the latency while gaming but thats the result.

Additionally I have tried researching ways to fix it and it said UPnP? Im not sure what that is.

So far I have factory reset the Router, left it unplugged for a while and have turned it on/off multiple times to see if that fixes the issue. Nothing helped fix it.

Response time has suddenly dropped of the cliff after days of low ping values, it may be be coincedental but we were given a new external IP address at about the same time that the problem started

Well this morning at 9am I reset the external hub and it was assigned a new WAN address and so far everything is back to normal with pings <50ms

So this strongly points to there being specific bad IP addresses, the culprit in my case being 92.41.164.93 which shows as being in Brighton even though I am in Eastleigh,  my current good address is shown as being in Exeter.   It would be much better if each mast allocated IP addresses that actually related to the mast location!

Okay I believe I may have fixed it. Saw on one discussion thread here last night that changing the apn from '3internet' to 'three.co.uk' actually fixes the problem. Did that last night and haven't experienced any packet loss since. Both in warzone and fortnite on my pc.

Hi Gabe. I've been having the same issue with my pc and latency as well.. please can you tell me how you go about changing the apn?? I'm getting a bit bored now playing limited games

Apologies for the late response. If you google 'how to change apn on three network/broadband', a gemini ai result comes first, it worked perfectly for me, and has been since Wednesday. Changing the apn is indeed the fix, I'm not sure three has realised that yet.

All you're doing is switching from the broadband connection [3internet] to the mobile one [three.co.uk]. While the mobile one is more stable at the moment, really Three needs to fix the broadband connection, otherwise you might as well pay for an unlimited sim for less than the price of the broadband...

Been experiencing the same, same with fortnite. It's so bad...beyond infuriating.

Is anyone from the Three team looking at this?
I have the exact same issue starting over a week ago.

Since I work from home it also affects my team meetings where every few seconds there is a package loss for 2 to 3 seconds.

And please, mods, don't come with the standard suggestions.

We are multiple people having the same issue that started happening at the same time, it isn't the location of the hub or something trivial like that.

Is there still no fix for this? or even any relevant information from admins?
