Bear with me.
I signed up for 3 Business 5G last week. I can get a download of around 150mbs (pretty good) at my house in the forest. However, the upload speed is 2mbs, which is quite frankly unusable. Tried it all around the house, even in the loft.
So, I tried an experiment. I moved the router around the house - and even drove it 400 mts up the road and tested it appropriately 30 mts from the mast. All good. At the mast, I got 600 download and 135 upload. Great. I then check across the road from me - neighbours house. They are on a higher part of the hill than us. Managed 70 down, 30 upload. Still acceptable.
Next I tried on top of our chimney stack - on our roof. It's a bungalow, so easy access. Over 300 down, 6-11 upload. Not bad.
So, the business broadand I have is an internal device - the ZTE MC888A but sadly it doesn't have any aerial ports for an external aerial. So I've cancelled that contract.
But here's the thing - on Personal they have the Outdoor Hub - perfect. I could try mounting that on the TV aerial, which is even higher than the chimney stack. Went online to order one to try - but - computer says NO...... it offered me another internal device.
So I phoned them. Still NO. My postcode isn't suitable for the outdoor hub. You What? It is suitable for their indoor hub - which doesn't give a good enough signal so I can't use it - but not suitable of the outdoor hub that could well work for me. That's MADNESS. Sales guy said he couldn't help, as computer says NO.
I'm going to try emailing THREE to see what they say. But turning away my money, when I want to sign up with you - and it might well work is just bad business.
I've seen it's possible to buy modified hubs and outdoor aerials, but that means spending money and it still might not work - no money back guarantee on those things. I'm so close to getting acceptable upload speeds, so I can ditch Starlink finally, which only has about 6-18 upload speeds.

Hey pt44,
That's not a great experience with the upload speeds you're getting. This is something that we can't guarantee with speeds as this does determine where you stay given the signal strength. Please know, this isn't a case of us turning your money and business with us away, it's just simply we don't have the outdoor hub ready for your area just yet and, this is something you can certainly register your interest for. This means you get a notification on when/if this'll be rolled out in your area.
In the meantime, we do recommend speaking with the Business Team about the speeds you're having, they'll be able to help with any questions and run some tests.
