End of contract keeping my router

zippy

I have ended my contract with Three and wish to keep my router. I spoke with them on the phone and they said this is fine! I have received an email and a plastic bag to return it. But I wish to keep it as a spare 5G router. I have switched to Smarty which is cheaper.

After 30 days, I understand Three will bill me for non return and I will be charged for it, which is fine.

If I am charged for it, will the router then become my own property to do with what I wish?

Hello, Zippy.

Generally the device is expected to be returned. The fee is technically that, a fee. It's not a purchase in the same sense it would be if you were buying something outright..

You mentioned that you were informed that it was fine, and I perhaps that's the case here, I don't know what kind of agreement has been made on your account. Since you're asking here, it sounds like you might be unsure yourself, so it might be best to double check that this agreement is indeed in place on your account.

Pete.

It was agreed with contact via webchat. I asked If I could keep the router and pay the fee (the fee, about £80) is what I would expect to buy a router from eBay for example!)

I asked if I paid the fee would the router would be mine to keep and is it unlocked. He said that this was okay and put a note on my file! If I could be sent a copy of the transcript/chat, then this would confirm it? How do I request a copy of said web chat?

Yes, I'm unsure, I just wanted to double check.

Hi @zippy,

Sorry for the delay. If you're looking to obtain a copy of info we hold such as a transcript the info on this page should help.

Thanks,
