I’ve just got a new refurbished iPhone 14 Pro and everything’s gone fine setting it up except my iMessage and FaceTime won’t connect to my phone number and I get an error saying “an error occurred during activation try again” whenever I try.
I’ve restarted my phone and network settings, I’ve logged out of iCloud and logged back in. I’m using a physical sim and not sure what I can do to fix this?

Ah, that's frustrating. Sorry to hear this.
Can I check, have you reset the network settings? You can do this on an iPhone by going to Settings - General - Transfer or Reset iPhone - Reset - Reset Network Settings
