Hello there.

It's disappointing to hear you're having issues with your connection in the area.

Based on the information within your other posts here, it looks like there's work going on in the area to install 1 or more new masts locally. This could be a response to issues previously being identified, or it could be that the area was simply scheduled to get the upgrade.

Installation and activation of a new mast can take quite some time due to the many different tasks that need coordinated and completed. I hope that the work will complete soon so that you can start to benefit from the new mast.

Pete.

There seem speed issues at Aqueduct! Disappointed Thought they would be over 500Mbps down and over 40Mbps for normal range?

Hi @bulldog555,

There's generally some benchmarking for new sites going online, so we may just be seeing this ramping up to full speed. Certainly it's quite odd to see the download and upload speeds be so comparable, as download is usually prioritised.

How long have you been able to connect at that location, is this only since yesterday, or have you been picking up 5G there for some time already?

Thanks,
Jonathan

@JonathanBThe mast went live yesterday or day before.

In reply to a post by jchamier:
site might be waiting for upgraded network connection, could be on a 4G era 1gigabit link and waiting for the telco to upgrade to 10 gigabit.

I just got back from Aqueduct, download 145Mbps upload 155Mbps stood next to the 5G mast using 5G.

I changed to 4G LTE, download 80Mbps and upload 110Mbps.

I think you are quite right, the mast must be on 1gigabit link for now.

@JonathanB

The mast (4G / 5G) seem have no fibre run at Aqueduct TF4 3RR. But there is work by Openreach to lay fibre to the mobile mast?

@JonathanBcan you please forward to Three

Dear Council Planning

I just saw the 5G Mast by Mayfield, Madeley, Telford, Shropshire as it seems to be put in the wrong area as it will not reach coverage in the Woodside area (there is no 5G in Mount Way, Woodside Telford, Shropshire (very weak coverage and poor 4G)

I do honestly think this mast is better off installed by Madeley Academy, Castlefields Way, Madeley, Telford as I am aware there is a new 5G mast by Aqueduct (again in the wrong area) as it won't reach the Woodside area.

I can understand both 5G mast will help improve coverage for Madeley and Aqueduct but lack of coverage in Woodside (very poor from the local 4G mast in Mount Way, Woodside, Telford (badly need 5G)

Regards

Mr ************ (Woodside Residential)

Their reply from Council:

Good afternoon

Thank you for your email regarding the placement of a 5G mast.

We appreciate his concerns and qualms, but as these masts are 99% of the time Permitted Development, and all the network providers have to do is give us notice and we check their placement, there is nothing we can do on the side of critiquing them and assessing if they could be better placed elsewhere. This is perhaps a query to raise with your provider.

Kind Regards
