As I said, "The source 0843 / 0845 number is different every time." & "These 0843 & 0845 calls can come at any time of the day or night".
Blocking all non-ContactList numbers is not a viable option in my case [and probably not in anybody else's case].
I should have mentioned that I am already registered with TPS but these people are crooks, they don't care.
I've been in contact with Three and they say there's no technical method of achieving what I want [blocking all 0843, 0845 numbers]. But they did accept my list of all 73 silent/abandoned calls since last Summer and said the subject will be investigated.
I've reported this to OfCom but they want a separate form to be filled in every time i.e. about every other day. I'd bother if I believed that action would be taken.

I also suffer from this problem and have not found a solution.
- These 0843 & 0845 calls can come at any time of the day or night.
- The phone rings for only a second or so then they hang up.
- The source 0843 / 0845 number is different every time.
- When I once accidentally selected 'call back', the recorded message referred to a [non-existent] claim of some sort.
- This has been going on for a year.
Does anybody know how to initiate remedial action?
1 A UK organisation is allocating these crooks the 0843, 0845 number each time.
2 Three is paying these crooks if I call back.
3 Three's UK bank and the crooks' bank are making the payment if I call back.
Isn't there a UK authority that can intervene to stop these steps being taken?

Hi @FakeCallsVictim,
I'm sorry to hear you've been receiving these calls. If you think these are fraudulent, scams, or spam, there's info on how to report them on our Fraud to watch out for page.
It may also be worth registering with TPS, so that you don't receive unsolicited calls: https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/
Thanks,
Jonathan

You can also block whatever numbers you wish and/or report them as spam

Or simply turn your phone off at night.

Very true, or switch on Do Not Disturb without adding exemptions.

Hi @Bilbobagginsin,
There's not a Network feature for this, but on my Google Pixel 6, I can customise my Do Not Disturb feature to allow calls only from existing contacts, or from "starred contacts". I'd recommend having a check if your phone supports this feature.
I found this in Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb > People
There should be similar features on most Androids and iPhones to allow calls from some or all contacts whilst Do not Disturb is active.
Hope this helps,
Jonathan
