convert nano SIM to eSIM while abroad

I currently use a nano SIM. If I buy a device abroad that only takes eSIMs, can I convert my pay monthly account to an eSIM and install it while outside the UK on WiFi (without using roaming)?

eSIM is currently available by taking one of our Three Your Way plans and choosing an eSIM compatible handset, tablet or SIM only plan. Existing customers will have the opportunity to get an eSIM when we roll this out across our other plans, later this year.

If you already have an account with Three and want to swap your physical SIM to an eSIM, you can do this if you are on one of our Three Your Way Plans (your plan will be called Standard, Plus or Premium). You can check if you are on one of these plans by checking your My3 account. You will then need to call our contact centre or visit one of our stores to swap your SIM.

Will the contact centre accept calls from Skype (so I don't have to pay international call charges)? And can the eSIM download itself be done over WiFi to avoid using roaming?

Thanks

I believe the eSIM is sent via email so you need Wi-Fi to access your email. If you’re not on one of the new plans as stated above or been migrated onto the new billing platform yet then you won’t be able to get one. You need to call them (Skype should be fine) or go on the live chat to see if your account is compatible yet. Also not 100% sure if you can activate the eSIM whilst roaming.
