PAYG number deactivated

Fledgling

Hi. My elderly father in laws PAYG number seems to have been deactivated and possibly recycled. He had no notice that this would happen and now he has no service. He uses it frequently so don’t think it was because of lack of use. Could anyone help with this please? I can’t get through to the 3 help desk.

Thanks

PAYG numbers are deactivated after180 days from last chargeable usage i.e. either text or call. If your father just used it to receive calls then no chargeable events have occurred. If the number has been deactivated then it's lost.

Thank you for your reply. Looks like he’ll have to get a new number

My mother had the same problem so, this was a few years ago, I went to Tesco and bought the cheapest contract phone I could find. Tesco's offer a Motorola Moto E13 for £8/month. I did it for mum so that she and I did not have to worry.
