5G HOME BB AVAILABILITY/ROUTER

Nirron01
Fledgling

My coverage checker currently shows 5g is not available in my area (PA2***) and my address shows as uncolored. Millimeters away (map wise) 5g shows as available outdoors. In practice, I can now get 5g on my mobile indoors with a consistent speed of over 120mbs which is better than my Virgin media bb. Not sure if the service has recently become available or coverage checker not updated.

As there is a 30 day money back guarantee on 5g home bb I decided to order it and try it out. However, when I try to order the 5g home bb router it defaults to the 4g. Is there any way to order the 5g router?. Is the 4g & 5g the same router?. Am I likely to get 5g bb or is mobile and broadband different 5g different?

Any help/thoughts/opinions would be appreciated although I am aware VM may be a better option as I have no issues with it other than price/landline etc

Hi Nirron01,

Welcome to the Three Community.

That's really exciting to hear that 5G is starting to roll out in your area! You are correct, the 5G and 4G routers are different devices.

When you enter your address details on the broadband order page it'll check which level of coverage you can get, and to make sure we can support another connection in the area, so we're possibly just awaiting a new mast or an upgrade in your area before we'll be selling 5G contracts there. The coverage between devices can vary a bit too, so your mobile picking up 5G doesn't 100% guarantee the router would also.

If you're willing to give it just a little bit longer, you can register your interest in 5G here, and we'll contact you when there's an update.

Hope this helps,
JonathanB
