5G Speed Cap/Bottleneck in Bridge Mode Configuration

cosmicflow666
Fledgling

• Performance Gap: Currently seeing 500-550Mbps directly from the ZTE MC888A, but speeds drop consistently to ~100Mbps when using Bridge Mode with a GL.iNet Flint 2 router.

• Signal Strength: Hardware reporting excellent reception with an RSRP of -76 dBm, confirming the issue isn't signal-related.

• Hardware Handshake: Verified a 1000Mbps full duplex physical link between devices; however, throughput remains throttled.

• Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

• Switched to `3internet` APN with PDP type set to IPv4.

• Cloned ZTE MAC address onto the secondary router.

• Adjusted MTU settings (1420/1380) and enabled Hardware Acceleration.

• Tested in Access Point mode, which restores speed, indicating a specific routing/handshake conflict in Bridge Mode.

• Location Discrepancy: IP Geolocation intermittently reporting locations like Armagh or Amsterdam, suggesting potential routing or CGNAT "tunneling" issues affecting the connection.

Seeking advice from the community or Three tech support on whether this is a known firmware bug with the MC888A's bridge implementation or a network-level throttle on third-party routing.
