Ever since I changed from virgin to three about a year or so ago I’ve never been able to use my WhatsApp, screwfix, octopus, Tesla, chess and Santander apps properly. They just sit there with hourglass churning away or say “no internet connection” or in the case of WhatsApp just get a clock face instead of the ticks. I have to switch Three WiFi off and use my EE mobile phone internet for these apps to work which is a pain, or reboot the router for WhatsApp to send messages. About a month ago they all started working normally! Great! Or so I thought, short lived :(. Back to not working again, so annoying. It’s as if there’s some sort of security handshaking that’s not working/broken when Three WiFi is involved. Any ideas?

You mentioned that you tried changing some APN settings to 3internet, can you confirm what it was set to before that? Could you also try changing it to three.co.uk to see if that APN resolves the issues?
Pete.

All I did was move the slider from automatic to manual. I also tried “three.co.uk” but that made things worse. My Texecom app (remote access) played up recently, again, had to switch the three WiFi off, used my EE mobile internet connection, worked straight away. It’s really frustrating cos I have a poor mobile signal, have to go upstairs every time for better EE signal! It’s clearly some firewall/security/hand shake issue.

Hello, Mifareman.
It's disappointing to hear you're having issues with all those apps on your phone whenever you're connected to your Wifi. Can you confirm if it's just the apps on your phone that are having the issues? Does the browser work OK? What about other devices on your Wifi network?
Pete.

Staying at a hotel in Chester, jumped on the hotel WiFi and all my apps work perfectly so it’s definitely not an issue with the apps. The fault appears to be the settings in the three hub.

Hello Pete, thanks for responding. Yes, it’s just the apps mentioned that don’t like the three WiFi. Browser works fine, email fine, other devices also fine. I had to reboot the hub three times yesterday to send WhatsApp messages! Messages just sit there with a time clock next to message. It’s like they don’t see the internet. At one point I thought I’d fixed it. Went into APN settings and selected manual (instead of auto) with “3internet” selected (didn’t do anything with password). It started to work fine, but after a few hours it went back to annoyance mode again. Is there a newer hub?

Hey @Mifareman,
Thanks for getting back to us with this information.
Could you confirm the make/model of the hub you're using currently?
Thanks,
Kate

Hello again, recently had to reset my outlook email. The three broadband WiFi would not let me connect with Microsoft server. Had to jump on my EE broadband, worked perfectly with EE.
