with no 5G tower nearby - my Broadband speeds were really struggling, So after doing some reaseach I took the plunge on an External Antenna for my Three Home Broadband model Zykel NR5103E 5G
With the Modem placed in the loft my average speed tests results were 20-30Mbps Download and 1-2Mbps Upload, all testing over ethernet cable (eliminating potential WiFi variants).
As the NR5103E has 4 SMA ports to suit a 4x4 MIMO antenna, I opted for the following external antenna:
Even though TS9 to SMA adapters are included with the antenna, it has very rigid cables and so I decided to use short lead adapters instead to allow some give/flexibility and take the strain off the already fragile SMA connections on the modem.
After the connections were made, I placed the antenna in the rafters (I plan to install outdoors when I get the chance), I switched the toggle on the rear to EXT antenna, rebooted the modem and let it bed in. After 5minutes or so I retested and got 10x the speed improvement!
Now it may have just been pure luck for me, but hopefully this helps people in the same situation. 😀
