Hi all, just posting on here as I’m really frustrated with my broadband speeds of late. I’ve had 3 5g broadband for a year and for the first 10 or 11 months it was great. I’d consistently get 400 to 600 download mbps and 80 to 100 upload mbps.
However even though my signal strength is exactly the same and there are no network issues in my area I’m getting at best 30mbps download and 7mbps upload speeds. Sometimes I can’t even watch Netflix or YouTube without it buffering.
The position of my router. all the settings, etc,etc are exactly the same as before. I rebooted the router umpteen times and even removed the sim and that didn’t work.
i can only assume that it’s something that 3 have done or they are deliberately throttling 5g broadband speeds in my area as they are oversubscribed.
if any tech people from 3 are reading this really would appreciate some help. I’m on a monthly rolling contract and find the cost very reasonable. However unless the issue is sorted and I start to get better speeds, I’m seriously thinking about leaving 3.

Hi Maxine, thank you for the reply. I took the sim out and put it in my phone today. When I did a speed test I got 250mb DL and 65mb UL. I’ve put the sim back in the router and it seems to have done something as I’m now getting 100 - 250mb DL and 50 - 70mb UL speeds when I speed test the router connection. Hopefully it’ll stay consistent as I need good broadband speeds for work.

Hi
over the last 5 days I have noticed same issue but both my phone and router thing/box
iv always had great speeds but that’s probably because my place sits under there 5G tower… I really could not get a better signal if I tried. But I’m struggling to even get 1 bar 4G at the moment.
if 3 Tech is reading this I’m *******. 1 of a handful of flats next to your 5G tower. Is there a tech issue with the equipment????

Hello, Lee.
It's disappointing to see you're having issues with your connection. As this is a public space for other Three users, you won't find anything from the tech team reading the posts. Popping your postcode into the Service Status page seems to confirm there is some kind of issue there at the moment.
If you'd like to find out more about it or explore the options available to you, you should reach out to the Broadband Support Team.
Pete.

As a Three mobile and home broadband service user and going by my own experience with them I can only advise you to first try and get your situation escalated past their first line support who generally tend to know way less than senior staff above them.
If you still fail to meet a resolution I suggest you leave them feedback relating to the service you've received on Trust Pilot and other review websites allowing other users to get a better understanding of the type of service they can expect if ever considering joining Three, saving them lots of time and pain, and of course more importantly report your complaint to both the Communications Ombudsman and also Ofcom.
Reports to the later all add up come the end of the year when public stats are reported, all of which will undoubtably help user considering future broadband and mobile services.

Hey Parcr3,
We're sad to hear you've been seeing a drop in your speeds lately. Throttling speeds isn't something we do here at Three, there can be a number of factors as to why these speeds are slow for you. Have you been able to test the SIM in your phone? Are you getting the same results with this?
In the meantime, you can take a peek at our Network Checker for any issues, and if you're not seeing any improvement our Customer Support Team can certainly investigate this further for you.
Maxine
