connection direct to 3 5g hub rubbish, via mesh great

Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on with the 5G Hub that three suppliers

I am in the middle of trying to update some software and I'm connected from my iMac to the 5G Hub on 5 GHz and I'm only getting 15 MB connection. I am less than 6 feet away. I swapped to 2.4 gigs and I'm now getting 3 MB connection.

I have a halo mesh system and I've just connected to that and I'm getting 400 mb.

It is nearly taking me 45 minutes to install a bit of software via SSH that normally takes minutes.

So explain to me why if I connect directly to the hub I get slow speeds on 2.4 gigs and 5 GHz yet if I connect to a third-party system that is linked to the system I get 10 times the speed

Hello @lgwjames,

Just wanted to check with you on how your speeds have been since you posted this. Are you still seeing slow speeds when connected directly to the hub?

Thanks,
Michael

Are you in an urban environment? (ie lots of other WiFi networks in range) Maybe there is too much noise on the channels your 5G hub is using?  There are apps that can analysis the wifi channels including their signal levels, utilization, health, potential.  I use an app on Android called WifiMan.  If you can check the 5G hub and see if the channel numbers are locked in place or automatically selected for optimized performance.  I would think your 3rd party system is doing a better job at selecting channels for throughput than the 5G hub is doing.
