I have the Three branded ZTE MC801 5G hub router. We have been with Three since July 2022. When we setup the router it was on the B09 update and we had no issues with it and got around 450Mb download speeds. Our 5G signal is around -95dBm. Then on 17th Oct 2022 our router automatically installed the B12 update. After that the router stops working at least once per day, sometimes more than once per day. When it stops working all mobile devices, laptops and the chromecast will display exclamation marks on the WiFi signal logo. If you try to navigate to any website the page will fail to load. If I log onto the router at 192.168.0.1 it all looks OK and small levels of kb are being downloaded/uploaded. The only way to fix is to either go to advanced settings > other > restart. Or walk to the router and unplug from mains power. Upon restarting the router everything is fine again and speedtest shows our usual 450Mb again. I have got so fed up that I have tried doing the factory reset on the router. This seemed to work and we went 4 days without any issue. But it happened again today. I strongly believe it was the B12 update as we didn't have the issue when it was on B09. Wish I didn't leave the default setting for automatic updates now. I have checked three.co.uk coverage page and network and looked up network maintenance and it does say they are fixing an issue in the area. However that has stayed like that for over a week. Just curious if anyone else is having an issue with the B12 update or whether it could be maintenance that is taking weeks to fix? Any thoughts?

Since our router got the update BD_UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B15 i have had no issues. It updated on 2nd March 2023 to B15. I believe this is the solution. If your router hasn't updated to BD_UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B15 then I suggest calling Three customer care

Interesting. I haven't called because when we last called they couldn't understand us. So I haven't bothered to phone. Just keep rebooting

I have the exact same issue. I have to restart the router every hour to get the good speeds and then it drops out. Very disappointed

Feel your pain. For us its pretty much every day. I have been noting the times. When I reboot we are back on 5G with speeds around 320Mb.

mine to does the same thing, a quick powercylce and it comes right back, or if you give it 15-20minutes it just works again, its a pain, it was fine on b09 firmware now b12 has ruined the modem by making it disconnect every few hours or so, i even had the modem set to non auto update but three forced the firmware on and have now made the product not fit for purpose

I saw something outside this community on another blog website where someone said they changed the PDP type on the 3Internet APN from using ipv4/6 to just using ipv4. I did this on 13th Feb 2023 and since then I haven't had to reboot the router. I haven't had the internet just cut out on me on daily basis. I know its only been four days since I changed that but it seems to have improved the situation. I am now wondering if the B12 update they pushed out on 17th Oct 2022 altered the PDP type to ipv4/6. And the v6 part causes upset. Anyway, for those having this internet issue, if you want to try it out, go to http://192.168.0.1/index.html Then on the first page, you may have to temporarily turn 5g toggle to off. Go into 5G settings. Choose APN. Mode to manual. Create new profile name, i called mine 3Internet. PDPtype= ipv4. APN = 3Internet Authentication - NONE. don't enter anything into username/password as these are not used. If you had to switch the 5G toggle off, go back to home screen http://192.168.0.1/index.html#home and turn 5G toggle back on. That's it. If this works for you also, then i guess it could be the resolving factor of the daily internet dropping issue.

Thanks so much for sharing this @5Ghub_house. Hopefully some other community members can share if this works for them too.
We currently only use IPv4 for these routers, so it does seem like a promising solution.
Thanks,

I spoke too soon when I wrote. I had updated the APN setting to ipv4 only on 13th Feb 14:38. However after that on 17th Feb 13:11 the internet dropped again and I had to reboot the hub. Then again on 19th Feb at 18:49 the internet dropped again and I had to reboot the hub. Then again on 20th Feb at 13:03. Manual reboots seems to be the way forward. Shame

I guess I will just have to keep rebooting the router every single day manually.

Quick update, after updating the router to IPV4 only we haven't had to reboot the router since 20th Feb 2023. We also telephoned Three customer services and went through some checks with them. Then surprisingly when I logged onto the router (192.168.0.1) today it said the router had updated successfully, Upon checking the router it had updated on 2nd March 2023 at 02:45 GMT to version BD_UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B15. So now we are using B15. We will have to see how this version goes. Too early to say. Has anyone else's router updated?

I'm having the same problem with super speed (300) after switching 5g off, changing status to 5g only or auto (or back again) on the modem control panel then switching 5g on again. Only to find speed dropping to sub-4g levels (45) an hour or so later. Then doing the 5g on/off brings super speed back. Very tedious.
