You can request a number change through on of the contact options on the Contact Us page. Once you have the new phone number, the old one will be lost permanently, so if you have any services that rely on the number to contact you for verification purposes, such as banking authorisations, apple ID verifications, things like that, it's a good idea to disable the number with them before you change the number.
