I have been using Three mobile broadband for over a year now, i never had problems connecting my laptop to the company i work for VPN server. Now i am unable to connect at all 😞 The IT support at work have investigated and said it is three boardband blocking it. How do i get around this without changing my broadband provider? I work from home on a full time basis so need to connect to a VPN

Have you tried changing your Mobile Data APN name to ‘3internet’? found the tip on a reddit thread & worked like a charm as I was struggling to connect NordVPN

Many many thanks beep! After months of intermittent and recently zero mobile data while in the UK (I still had full mobile data while roaming abroad) changing the APN from 'three.co.uk' to '3internet' seems to have done the trick! (Tested on 4G and 5G) 😎👍

Here's where to find it on iPhone:
Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Network:
MOBILE DATA
APN 3internet

One additional step that may or may not be necessary. In
Settings > VPN & Device Management > VPN:
DEVICE VPN
I deleted the VPN device configuration, then, back in the VPN app, initiating a VPN connection asks to 'Add a VPN Configuration'. This reinstates the DEVICE VPN (As a result, I noticed a change in the DEVICE VPN from before to after that step).

Has anyone had a solution to this VPN issue?

Hi @obii01,

Have you seen this thread: FYI : IPv6 Prevented VPN Connection

You may find that setting a manual APN profile for the 3internet APN, and setting this to IPv4 only solves this VPN connection problem.

Let me know if that sorts it or not. If not, can you let me know a bit more about what you're experiencing? Which VPN service are we talking about, and what's the issue you're experiencing. For example, are you unable to connect at all, is the connection unstable, or does it intermittently disconnect?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Having the same issue but I don't know how to make the changes suggested (ipv4 etc???). Staff in 3 shop today told me three routers don't work with vpn's!

I am having exactly the same issue.  Suddenly overnight two days ago I am unable to connect to my work VPN from both my three devices (5g router and mobile hotspot)  Strange its happened just outside my cooling off period.  just to eliminate any issues on my work Infrastructure I asked my neighbour if I could jump on their sky broadband to check.  Guess what I connected just fine.  I have rebooted everything a few times. to no avail.  This is definitely a 3 issue and I will be raising  complaint as the whole reason I use their devices is for work. I work on the Infrastructure team in my company so I know for a fact it is not an issue on our side.  I will probably hit a brick wall with Three's customer service after reading the poor responses on various threads on here

this has happened to me today around noon, before that I was perfectly fine then BANG cut off, I spent 2 to 3 hours with our tech support who finally had the idea - can you try your mobile hotspot , and of course as soon as I switched to my EE phone it connected

What on earth is going on !!!

Yep I doubt they will admit it but the changes they are making are definitely causing this issue. Both my hotspot and 5G router stopped working at exactly the same time after 3’s updates and network outages. I work on the Infrastructure team and can categorically say it’s a 3 issue. Awaiting a response from them

What is the effect of switching ipv6 off and forcing it to use ipv4, I did not do the changes to the domain name as some people have done !!! this has actually cost me a weekend of on call overtime as I could not guarantee stability !!! and of course if I reset the hub I have to make the changes again, I never had any problems using a SKY Broadband Router for the last few years but now that I have moved out of that home, I needed a new package and the Three offer seemed too good to be true
