My number is being used to scam people

I had a call the other day from someone saying they had a missed call from me, I just said I hadn't called them and ignored it.

Today I had a woman call me and say that I'd contacted her about some issues with her bank. It sounded very much like a scam caller who had contacted her but with my number showing. I told the woman not to give out any details and check with her bank if she had any concerns.

Is there something I can do or at least make 3 aware that my number if being misused or block this happening.  I don't want to change my number, but also don't want this to continue.

Hello there. 

That's not so good. It could be that the number was being spoofed somehow, although I'm not sure what the motivation for doing that would be. If they wanted some one to call them back, they would never be able to reach them. 

It's also possible that the person calling you was a scammer, and there are situations where a scammer will call pretending to be someone who has received a call from your number, in the hopes of gathering small bits of information from you than can later be useful. 

I'd recommend to block calls from numbers you don't recognise, as well as unknown numbers.
