Poor coonection during landline calls

Danno

I have been having issues with calling landlines. I can usually hear the person on the other end but they can't hear me. This issue is only a calls to landlines problem as calling mobiles is always fine.

This was happening on my previous sim and phone and I expected an upgrade to resolve the issue with a new sim card and new number, unfortunately the problem still occurs.

I've called Three and they're unsure of the issue.

Yes, same problem here. Three support was very unhelpful and kept insisting that I contact the manufacturer of my phone (Samsung S23) for support.

This is very likely a problem with Three which is related to how calls are routed from their mobile network to landlines. After it being almost impossible to speak to a landline number from my phone on Three, I borrowed another phone with a Vodafone SIM card and called the same number, and I had no problems. Also, I've called landlines from abroad using my phone while roaming on a foreign network, and I had no problems.

Calls to mobile numbers are unaffected.

Three needs to solve this problem on their network, although I doubt it will be solved until after the merge with Vodafone.

Maxine,  what about everyone else that has this problem? Nearly 2 years I've been unable to call landlines, cannot wait to leave three next month and join a company that I will get what I pay for.

Hey @Tracy444,

It looks like Kate messaged you to get in touch with our agents about this. Did you manage to do this?

Hi Maxine,

No I've not been back onto the agents, I've been in touch with agents and the store numerous times and they all went through the same checks,  WiFi calling, change sim card, try different phone, etc etc,  all to no avail,  they all said they had no other complaints about it and it was just me,  then the last one quite a few months ago said three was doing work in the area and refunded me a month's payment saying would be fixed soon.  Nobody at three is acknowledging a problem, but, if you go to this forum and other forums, it's people all over the country and with different handsets, all the same, landlines only cannot make calls.

I just cannot wait for another couple of weeks when I can change to another provider who supports calling to landlines.

But thank you for your response

I have exactly the same issue. The Wi-Fi calling is off and I have the issue for a long time now. My device is Samsung S10 Lite and I have a sim-only contract. It us totally useless with any landline from anywhere in UK

Ive been on the phone to them numerous times but still not working, as soon as my three contract is up I'll be moving network, mobile phones that cannot make calls to landlines, its unbelievable

I'm having exactly the same trouble, I have for a year now and tried everything,  three are not interested so I'm paying for a phone that's useless as I am unable to make any calls to landlines as they just cannot hear me, they say the line is crackling.  Did you ever get it resolved?  And if so, how?  Thanks

Hi @Tracy444,

It doesn't look like we've heard anything further from the Original Poster in the meantime. Probably the best place to start in figuring out this issue, is trying to narrow down if it's linked to the phone, SIM/account, or the network.

A few questions that might help with this:

  • Does the issue seem to be in particular locations, or everywhere?
  • Is the issue affecting one, some, or all landlines, do you know if all the numbers you've tested are on one provider such as BT or Virgin?
  • Are you able to test and confirm if the same issue happens with your SIM inserted in another phone?
  • Likewise, can you try a friend or family member's SIM in your phone to check if the same issue happens?
  • Do you know if anyone else on Three is affected in your local area?

I appreciate you might not be able to test or confirm all of these, but any info from the above should help us narrow down the next steps.

Thanks,
Jonathan
