Hello,
I currently have a monthly contract with Three and am planning a three-month visit to Pakistan. I would like to keep my SIM card active during this period to receive calls and messages only but I do not need roaming data.
Could anyone please advise on the best options for managing this while abroad?
Go roam packages are very expensive when you need to receive calls and messages only.. what are the other ways around it?
Thank you.

Hey @asadullah,
The daily roaming charge is triggered as soon as you use any of your plan’s allowances in a Go Roam destination. For example:
When you make an outbound call to a standard UK mobile or landline number
When you send a text back to the UK
When you make calls and send texts between Go Roam in Europe destinations
When you use your data allowance. This includes using data over the fair use limit – up to your allowance.
I'd recommend checking out our Go Roam Around the World extra passes to save some money while abroad.
Thanks,
Kate

What if I need to receive calls and SMS only?
I will not be making an outbound call, sending a text back or using data...
Only incoming calls and SMS.

Hey @asadullah.,
Incoming calls and texts are free, so they don't trigger Go Roam. We've recently updated our Roaming Destination checker. If you check the destination out there, you should see a list of all outside allowance charges, and that receiving calls and texts is free.
Thanks,
Kate
