Fledgling

After 3G was switched off in our area without  notification,  my husband wasted hours to find out why his phone wouldn't work,  finally he was told to replace his old phone with a 4G compatible one which he did, only to find he is unable to make calls because it does not give him the option to enable VoLTE, the phone is a Samsung J3  2017 model, complaints dept are blaming his phone saying that it is faulty, the phone is fine it is a SIM card issue.

Very dissatisfied with 3 and he has raised a complaint

Hello, Cassie.

Welcome to the Three Community.

Looking online I can see there's quite a bit of talk about the J3 device and whether or not it supports VoLTE. It looks like the phone is capable of it, however it doesn't look like it has wide compatibility. Most of the examples I saw online, people who purchased the phone from their carrier had functioning VoLTE, but people who got the phone somewhere else and then used it on their own carrier did not have the feature working.

If you didn't get your J3 from Three, this could explain why it isn't able to use VoLTE. With more recent phones, there's no need to buy the phone from the same carrier since most newer phones are configured to work on VoLTE for a wider range of carriers.

Pete.

Doubt it's a SIM issue; you can easily get one if inclined from any CURRYS Store. Time for a new phone me thinks.
