Sim card

Fledgling

Requested a new sim because changed hand set and the sim tray in Old phone was stuck...managed to retrieve old sim the following day...assumed old sim would stay active until new sim arrived- nope 3 disconnected it despite knowing royal mail on strike! If I reported old sim as lost or stolen I could understand but I specified damage so not sure why they took this step...I have two young children so it's quite outrageous that I've not been contactable by phone for 3 days whilst waiting for the new sim...can't call 3 because no outgoing calls can't log into my account because it sends text to your phone to verify and I'm unable to receive texts while sim is inactive...resorted to live chat where I was essentially met by robots following a script who suggested I go into my nearest 3 store or activate wifi calling (explained this only works when connectedto wifi)...explained I probably can't get to a 3 store until weekend as I work until 5.30 every day and then have to pick up 2 young kids from 2 different parts of Manchester - the nearest stores are all in major shopping centres so not a case of "nipping in" especially the week before Xmas- absolutely manic - I asked them to reactivate old sim in meantime or call me on my friends handset so I could speak to someone rather than a robot...i was told this was impossible...its a joke to he honest if simething and I'm very tempted to cancel my contract - no one asked for my old sim to be disconnected so not sure why they did that knowing there is a postal strike - it wasnt lost or stolen it was reported as damage - I've been left vulnerable with no contact from 3 even via email - if anything happens to my kids the school cannot contact me via wifi calling! the customer service is appalling and I'm gutted I've renewed my contract for another 2 yrs with them

Not what you want to hear but as soon as they they order a new SIM to do a SIM swap the old one disconnects. They should have explained this to you. However it’s not their fault Royal Mail is on strike or your old SIM got stuck. I bet usually they are delivered next day. Maybe you could push for some line rental refund for the period you are without service. I know not ideal but you are just unlucky. You could also try going instore to a Three shop to see if they can do a SIM swap for you there.

This has just happened to me!!!!! my daughter has just left for a weekend trip and we both have inactive SIM cards! This was not explained to me. Since when do u disconnect SIM cards without telling someone. Once my new SIM card arrived I expected to them get my number transferred. I am furious!!!  Money can't repay for the anguish of a mother not knowing how their child is.
