Additional (US) number?

I have another mobile account with another provider. They allow me to have a secondary (US) number in addition to my normal UK number. That's great as, when in the US, there are many occasions when a non-US telephone number is not recognised. I would rather move my US number to my Three account. Is this possible?

Not even a chance. Hutchinson are a UK/ROI provider, not a US one. If you wish to keep your US number port it to Google Voice or https://www.numberbarn.com/

If your number doesn’t start 07 which I assume it doesn’t if it’s a US number then not a chance.

My UK Truphone number starts 07, but the secondary (US) number starts 407. In practice, the UK number is not used. It's just there so that we can have the US number.

I expect the answer to be no but it's an interesting question. Who is the second number with?

It's with Truphone. They've withdrawn the Pay As You Go option. I don't want to start a second contract just to keep my US number (I don't use it very often) so I'd hope I could just transfer the number across to my Three account. It would be a shame to lose it, as it's a very memorable number for me.
