The “unhelpful”as you put it customer service can and will do it for you. Why would you wait months to sort it whilst apparently losing money. Something not quite right here.

I am also trying to change my number as I wish to port my current number to another network due to better coverage. I wish to keep my Three account as a secondary one for at least the remainder of my 'in contract' period as I have to pay anyway. They tell me they can't do it but I know they can as I've done something similar in the past with another network when I changed. No skin off their nose, they get paid anyway. Not sure what to do to get them to do something so simple as changing the number.
