Hi folks,
So I got Three’s 5G broadband and get great speeds, with great coverage around the house. But at various times each day (for no apparent reason), it just disappears from being available as a wifi device for around 10 minutes, or until reset. The Mac connected by CAT7 cable is unaffected, and all lights remain as they should.
I’ve positioned the router in various places, tried changing the APN from 3internet to three.co.uk, and reset several times.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I have 2.4 and 5 GHz on at the same time? 2.4 GHz is slower, but I need that for the smart gadgets in the house, but speed is what it’s all about…
Thanks in advance for your time

Hello, I too am having these damn issues and am getting extremely fed up now. If this persists I will likely cancel my contract and find another provider. Just too much!
Please let me know what can be done ASAP.
Thanks,

With the ZTE MC801A (firmware B12 and B15) I was getting several dropouts every day, sometime 3 minutes, sometimes 45 minutes. Moving to different locations did appear to make some improvement but dropoouts continued.
I bought a Zyxel NR5103e router on eBay. Fitted the SIM, and have had no dropouts at all since then.
Seems quite convincing to me that the firmware in the ZTE router still needs improving. See my other message for comparison between ZTE and Zyxel routers.

Hello Jonathan,
Still ongoing with the same issue. I use the ZTE app to disable the 5g signal then re enable it and then the router interface shows it is receiving download data and works for around 4 hours again, then has the problem again.
I could not find your private message ,but I have only now found I needed to click on prof Ile avatar to access the message section in my community account.

Hi I also have this router and having the same issue, i have just upgraded to this router, had no issues at all with previous for two years and since getting this one constant drop out.
I have contacted three and forced them to send me a new router which i will receive on tuesday however looking at everyone having this issue i dont think that is going to help, just last night while working i have had three drop outs and had to restart the router for it to come back.
Three support also tried to blame an issue with them mast which is being looked at however this is not the issue my 5g phone works fine, then they tried to tell me my phone signal and router signal are different, im tired of trying to explain to them, i just want my internet back to the way it was, dropped multiple calls at work already, also b12 firmware.
Send me PM and ill happily provide data, definitely an issue with this router dont know why i ever changed

Hi Jonathan,
I'm having exactly the same issues, please can you drop me a DM ASAP as I really need to have internet that works.
I still have my old Three router but really don't want to have to set up all my devices again with a new connection - can I use the old router for the internet connection and use the new router for the wifi until this issue is resolved?
Thanks,

Hi all - I'm another person having daily issues since the ZTE 5G router updated to firmware BD_UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B12 in late October. Before then I had at most 1 short internet drop out per day, on most days but not all. Now it's 5-10 times a day, every day, with some of the drop outs being as long as two minutes. Very difficult to work from home with this.
Should I try to rest the router, and turn off automatic updating - or will the update force it's way through no matter what, and trying to reset it is a waste of time? Will respond to a DM ASAP.

Hi, I'm having the same issue as well...
I have a ZTE MC801A supplied by Three, which was upgraded to firmware version BD_UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B12 on 11 Oct 22. I have started experiencing dropouts where I can connect over WiFi to the router configuration page, but downloads from the Internet stop completely. Rebooting the router resolves the issue until the next dropout. This has been somewhat problematic when working from home.

I have the same issue with the frequent drop off of internet connection on both of my 5G ZTE MC801A situated at different post codes at different part of London, the issue is even noticeable after the most recent firmware update(BD UKH3GMC801AV1.0.0B12). The disconnection would occur at random time, at most 7-8 times a day. The trouble is the disconnection is permanent unless you reboot the device. I have been calling the support, and was given cell tower fault, the usual stuff. It is unworkable for me and I am really consider leaving Three.
