I guess you are referring to the Zyxel NR5103E which has the MediaTek T750?
If so there were some teething issues but the latest b12 firmware has resolved the majority of issues.
Mine performs well so can't complain ๐

No I never had the ZTE MC801A so cant really comment on it but by the sounds of what you said it wasn't great lol
The Zyxel does have 4 external TS9 ports to connect a 4x4 mimo external 4G/5G antenna (or two 2x2 mimo antennas) though which I like.
