5G Mast

Is there anyway to ask Three to look into installing a 5G mast locally. Im on the very edge of 5G coverage, would love some super speedy internet. Even 4G isn't the fastest here, until about 1am.

  • I’m in the same situation here in Whittlesey  pe7 *** area  where I have a three mast that’s about 500 to 600 meters away from me currently installed on a solar field according to cellmapper / locator apps.  But my iPhone only wants to connect to a tower that’s in Whittlesey town centre  where there located on a large water tower. I get speeds from 2mbps down 6mbps up. To 25 mbps down 30 up. But sometimes when I receive 5g the signal drops to 1 to 2 bars and also the speed drops to almost nothing then few seconds later it’s back to the 4g again. So  my phone doesn’t seem to connect to the tower that’s very close to me. It would be great to have  a mini cell or a tower installed in a field right next to me so I get the best speeds etc. would that be possible ?

Hi @DanielHorne25,

Sorry to hear that the speeds aren't as good as we'd hope for you locally. The nearby mast may not have been activated yet if it's a 5G one, it looks like the nearest 5G is Whittlesey, and you're not in range at that postcode, which may explain the weak signal that's not supporting a connection.

I'd recommend to try setting your network mode to 4G only, instead of 45/5G automatic, this may help keep the signal more stable rather than it trying to latch onto any competing mast.

In terms of micro cells, sorry we don't have an option like this at the moment. Building new masts is a significant investment so we can't take individual requests, but we are always investing in new infrastructure, so hopefully you see improvements in the future.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi AI87,

Thanks for joining the Three Community.

My best advice is to register your interest in 5G here. You'll receive updates when we're rolling upgrades out in your area. I Hope you see an improvement in the speeds there soon.
