MMS not sending

SarahD
Fledgling

I cant seem to send MMS messages from my IPhone 12 to another phone.
I get ‘message sending failed’ this happens no matter the photo size etc

Never had a problem before just recently.

MMS is enabled on my phone.

I am attempting to send to a phone not using WiFi or 4G.

I came upon this thread while trying to find a solution to the same problem but with my Samsung Galaxy S23 - I just switched to Three on a Sim Only deal last week. My phone cannot send MMS photo messages, it just comes up with an orange exclamation mark sign, and 'Couldn't Send Message'. The same if I try to send a message to a paid number (e.g for a competition). I've looked through the settings and cannot seem to figure out what's wrong. Any help much appreciated.

Hi @fw1112,

Usually your settings should install automatically when the SIM is inserted and the phone powers up. As you've mentioned that you've been unable to contact competitions numbers too, I'm wondering if you have a £0 spend cap though?

If you log into the Three App or on our website, look for "Manage Plan" then "Spend Cap". You can either remove the cap, or set it to an amount you're comfortable with. Check our Price Guides for more info on charges that aren't covered by your allowances.

Let me know if this helps sort it or not.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi there, Sarah.

To receive MMS, a data will be needed. Normally a phone will auto establish a data connection in order to complete the download, however there are settings on some phones that will prevent this.

There's also the possibility that your MMS is actually being sent as a RCS message, and those will require the other phone to be network connected in order to receive them, the phone will not connect on it's own to receive RS messages under any circumstances.

If it isn't either of those things, can you confirm if you're able to send the message to any other phones?

Pete.

I find it strange that I was able to send photos to this one a while ago but suddenly can’t.
Thanks for responding.

Having thought about it I think the “RCS” scenario is the most likely as this was only recently introduced by Three. Check your settings.

RCS is enabled.
Thanks.

Hi @SarahD

have you checked if you have any barrings?
And what is the SMSC (SMS Center or aka message center) number in your settings/sim?

Hi, where would I find the SMSC number?

Thanks.
