Call forwarding to overseas number

Chuakh
Fledgling

I want to set up call forwarding to a non UK number because I will be travelling and using a phone with a local number but I still want to receive any calls to my UK number. I have an iPhone 15 and am on a pay monthly plan. When i turn on call forwarding and enter the non UK number, the call forwarding option gets automatically turned off. I know it works because i have tested it with a UK number.

Is there a way to do this, or does Three disable that function?

Hello.

You can only call forward to UK numbers.

Whenever you are call forwarding, you are essentially placing a call. The person is calling you, and the network is following the instruction and placing a call to the number you choose and connecting them.

If call forwarding was allowed to be made to overseas numbers, you would be getting charged for making an international call every time some one called your number.

Pete.

If I do call forwarding to a U.K. number and then take that phone with me outside of the U.K. is that possible.

I’m planning on forwarding my uk number to a virtual landline. That way I can take calls anywhere in the world.

the issue is if I take the uk sim outside of the UK will the calls and messages still forward

Hi @Hussainvkr,

I expect the call forward should still work, however forwarding to a number other than Three Voicemail service will use your allowances. So assuming the SIM is with you and actively roaming, this will count as usage for Go Roam if you're on a plan with daily charges, or if you go to a destination outside Go Roam you could be charged per minute. I'd recommend to check our Roaming Destination checker before using a method like this if you take your SIM abroad.

Thanks,
Jonathan
