Doctor tried to phone me but I got an alert saying the number was blocked

I've recently had a number of issues with my Honor phone after upgrading to MagicOS 8, where my phone reverted back to my old, pre-port, phone number. As a result of this I've been through resetting all my phone and network settings quite extensively over the past few weeks.

Today however I had a new issue in that I requested a call-back from my doctors surgery and when they tried to phone me back I simply got a notification that I'd had a call from a blocked number. This confused me as not only have I never blocked the number of my doctors surgery, I don't actually have any numbers blocked.

I'm not sure if this is an issue relating to three or google but I need help to resolve it asap. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance offered.

After a quick google search I've found something about VoLTE - which means absolutely nothing to me - and other than that its just the same old "try resetting the network settings" or "have you tried turning ot off and on again" lark.

As @jr0 says, I think this may be more likely to be a phone/Google account issue. I can't recall any of our standard messages referencing blocked numbers. They've made a great suggestion, as testing the same SIM in another phone will immediately separate issues with a specific phone from SIM/Network/Account based issues.

Just in case it's VoLTE related though, we did switch off most 3G signal last year, you can read some helpful information on how to check various settings relevant to VoLTE here: How to ensure your phone is ready for the 3G switch off 

On most Androids if you open the phone app, you should be able to click on the three dots in the top right to find your "settings", I'd recommend checking for options like "Caller ID and Spam", and "Blocked numbers" there. Is it possible you have blocked calls from Unknown/Unidentified numbers? If they were withholding their number when they called you back, that setting would possibly stop the call from connecting.

Just to check, is it just that one call affected so far, or have you had general issues with making/receiving calls recently? Let us know on the above suggestions if they help solve or narrow down the issue.

imo it is a phone issue and/or a google account issue... never ever a sim/account would revert to your pre-port phone number.

To rule out if is Three or your handset, I'd try the sim into a different phone. Again, when you mentioned you got a notification of a number or call had been blocked, imo this sounds like a device setting or app. 
FYI VoLTE means Voice over LTE, layman term for calls using data "channel"/4G, as in previous generations (e.g. 3G) you would have a dedicated "channel" for voice calls and another one for data.
