EU daily roaming charge

Jane79
Fledgling

Hello everyone! Currently abroad in an EU country and received a text message about £1.67 daily roaming charge being activated. Despite having my mobile data turned off and not making any calls, I reached out to Three customer service. They explained that the £2 daily roaming charge is triggered as soon as my device connects to another country's network, not just when using data or making calls.

I had previously thought that the charge only activated when using data or making calls, and that incoming calls from the UK didn't trigger it. However, this doesn't seem to be the case according to what I was informed.

Any insights on this issue would be appreciated!

Let me guess you have an iPhone and data roaming is switched off? If so it has been raised numerous times on this forum and examples of this requested and passed to a specialist team via the forum moderators. But unfortunately no solution has been posted yet.

This has happened to me in April in France, 3 x daily roaming charges and in Greece in June, 6 x daily roaming charges.  They absolutely refused to credit, so I requested a PAC code to leave the network and then they credited me back!  Apple insists that  "Yes you're correct on that. You should not be getting charge if your device roaming is turned off.  You can advise them about this issue as this is a carrier issue".
