Paying for incoming texts from three when abroad.

I am abroad for 2 months and have bought a local sim. Every time I switch on my old phone with my UK sim I received a text to say I’m being charged £2. I have not sent any texts or made any calls from this number or used any data so why am I being billed for this?

If you haven’t got data roaming switched off then your phone potentially uses small amounts of data in the background that would trigger the £2 a day go roam charge hence you received a text from 3 informing you of this. If you have an iPhone and data roaming is switched off and you are still getting charged the £2 a day roaming charge then see this thread here.
