WiFi calling not available

My 3 sim does not have WIFI calling anymore? it did have but not now. I have 2 sims in my phone one from 3 and one from tescos mobile. the Tescos does have WIFI calling. I have tried Airplane mode, rebooting phone/router etc.and still no good! I have a Redmi note 13 pro plus with all the latest updates As I have a very poor signal at home this makes my 3 sim virtually useless.

No still not working, friends now use my other number or my home number now! Phone says ''wifi calling not available'' in the notification box. call my number and it either rings out or goes to answerphone but nothing come up on phone. this is so annoying as it did work.

Hi @keith1,

I've sometimes found that the issue is that our Wi-Fi calling service only kicks in with really weak/no signal. It's worth trying your phone in airplane/flight mode. Most phones will let you toggle this setting, and switch your Wi-Fi back on whilst leaving in flight mode so that the mobile network doesn't reconnect.

If your phone supports this, then check if it'll let you make a Wi-Fi call this way. Not ideal, but should help you determine whether the problem is that Wi-Fi calling isn't working on your phone at all, or if the weak signal is still trying to force a normal phone call.

Let me know if you're able to test this.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Thanks for your input, but I have tried that, you have not read the whole thread,  😉  My phone has 2 sim slots both work fine with a Tesco mobile sim, none of them give me wifi calling with Three! It did work when  first got sim but not now.

Hi @keith1,

Sorry for any  misunderstanding there, when I had read "I have tried Airplane mode, rebooting phone/router etc.and still no good!" It wasn't particularly clear if you had tried what I described or were simply toggling Airplane mode on and off quickly to refresh your SIM's connection.

I follow that the Tesco SIM is working for Wi-Fi calling, but we ideally need to clear up if the issue is the SIM, phone, Wi-Fi, or your Three number's provisioning on the network. Tesco don't use Three's core network, so although it's certainly helpful info, it doesn't pinpoint the issue.

  • The recent SIM swap means the SIM is unlikely to be the cause. Just to confirm you had the same number swapped onto a new SIM, or did you try a completely new SIM and number?
  • If you have any old, spare or can borrow a compatible phone from a friend or family member it would be helpful to check if the same issue happens in another phone with your SIM?
  • Likewise, have you been able to test against other Wi-Fi networks, or only your home Wi-Fi?

Let me know if you're able to test any of the above, or if you're not able to test again just let me know here regardless. Once we've got this info together with the other info you've already shared I'll check how we can get this looked into further.

Thanks,
Jonathan

My three sim experience the exact same issue. I'm dual sim on Xiaomi as well. I briefly had WiFi calling and then it disappeared with a recent update. Yesterday I added a second SIM on 02 and suddenly it reappeared but only for the 02 SIM.

Hello.

Since it was working prior to the update, it seems likely that something about the latest software version has impacted the Wifi calling compatibility.

I'd recommend reaching out to the manufacturer to report the issue.

Pete.
