Fraudulent billing of 4.50 weekly

AmanKin
Fledgling

I have been Billed 4.50 monthly for a year now for a subscription I never made. I have called three and they said to contact the service provider myself! The name of the service on the bill has even changed form Mad4mobile to Fun Vids. How do I stop this.

Hi @AmanKin,

Did you manage to unsubscribe from this service? If you still need help with this, here's some more info.

This sort of charge will either be added to your bill by Three Pay transaction, or by a reverse charge text, usually from a 5 digit shortcode.

If it's a Three Pay transaction, you can usually unsubscribe from the website or app which subscribed you to this. If you're not sure where this has came from, there should be a helpline number for the provider on the itemised section of your bill. You can usually call them to unsubscribe too.

If it's a reverse charge text shortcode, you can also usually text STOP or STOP ALL back to the shortcode to unsubscribe.

You may also be able to find further support from the Phone-paid Service Authority. They regulate charge to bill services in the UK.

Thanks,
Jonathan

That's the things, it's a scam, it's hard to do so. We can't just unsubscribe from this!!!!

The service looks like a legitimate business. While I can understand it's frustrating to have payments taken for so long unexpectedly, unsubscribing is an option. If you are having issues unsubscribing, you should be able to block the payments from going through by contacting the Support Team and requesting for them to set your Credit Limit to £0. The credit limit is not the same as your spend limit, so setting the spend limit to £0 won't have an impact on 3rd party charges.

Just on the phone to 3 technical support. They can't block any 3rd party payments buy setting credit limit to zero. 3 is facilitating scammers and there are many simple solutions they could do to stop this.

only way to stop these is threaten legal actions for breaking the consumer rights act 2015 and say your legal team will be investing the charge that you didn't authorise it's definitely a scam and three customer support does absolutely nothing to stop it or protect it's customers so stupid

they immediately sent a refund and stopped the charges after I threatened them with legal action because they know dam well there doing a scam

Hi @nicholascollier,

I'm sorry to hear you're having some trouble finding a solution in regards to a 3rd party payment. It looks like this is your 1st post on the Community. Can you help us understand your experience a little better please?

What sort of charges have you been dealing with a shortcode text, or a Three Pay charge? How were you alerted to the charge?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I am currently going through the same 4.50 a Week charge, no way to cancel it no number works, everytime I ring 3 then next person gets ruder because they have already helped me, when they really haven't.

3 weeks later my next step is legal and OFCOM see if they have any advice.

Hello.

My advice would be to request that the Support Team set your Credit Limit to £0. This is different from the Spend Cap that you would normally interact with on the App, and will prevent any 3rd party charges from going through. This will normally result in the cancellation of any subscriptions that are in place since the companies in question will not be receiving their payments.

You are suffering from a scam, you need to contact whoever you use to pay these charges, credit card or bank or Three, tell them you are being scammed, they will be able to stop the payments but you may have a hard time getting a refund.

Three seems to be nonchalant to the issue
