Keep getting calls from this number: 03333381017 - by people with "offers" for my 3 plan. They are very persistent and I have good reasons to think they're scammers but just wanted to be certain they're not some overzealous subcontractors working for 3.

Hi everyone,
We notice quite a few replies on this topic include the phone numbers being called from. Please don't post 01, 02, or 07 numbers onto public forums. In most cases these are going to be "spoofed" numbers, and the scammers are faking the number. The numbers being shared could be real personal or small business numbers owned by individuals who have no part in the scam.
Please feel free to share your experiences here, it's good feedback to help us understand scammers and spammer activity, and hopefully the advice here will help protect others too.
When it comes to the phone numbers they're using please report this securely by sending the word CALL to 7726, then you'll be prompted on the reply to send over the number which called you. You can forward suspicious texts to 7726 too.
If you have a look at our Fraud to watch out for, and Report a problem pages, you'll find lots of help and guidance on how to report scams and suspected fraud with Three and other organisations.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi @nearly_scammed,
I'm sorry to hear you've also received these calls. I've removed the mobile/landline numbers from the post, as these are usually "spoofed" this means that there may be a real UK number, which the usually overseas, scammers are faking the call from. We don't call from 01/02/07 numbers, please report these calls using the advice on our Fraud to watch out for page.
Our staff wouldn't be offering you details like addresses or bank info, and in terms of receiving a code they may have been simultaneously calling or chatting with customer services to trigger this. Given you've mentioned they already seemed to have info about you, and that you received notifications about an email chnage, and particularly if you did confirm a passcode with them, I'd recommend to follow the steps here on the Report a problem page
Thanks,
Jonathan

I've been receiving calls from a number 03333031021 is this THREE or a scammer?
on 23-09-2024 03:40 PM
I am fed up of receiving calls from random numbers claiming to be calling from Three. I am receiving a call 2 or 3 times a week. I keep telling them I know it's a scam and stop calling me but they keep calling. It does feel like there is some kind of data breach at Three or there's some kind of inside job going on selling information. These scamming scumbags know I'm on Three somehow but I'm not falling for their **** Three you need to do something about these clowns and protect your customers (You know the ones, we're the people that spend money with you every month)
Please get this call center closed down.

I renewed my THREE contract online yesterday and the form was asking a lot of unnecessary personal questions and I couldn't complete renewal until I answered them all. For example 'MARITAL STATUS'. What has that got to do with having a phone contract?!!
Since then I have been plagued with spam calls from various numbers eg; 08081682025, 01*********, 03333381079, leading me to believe that someone within THREE might be being naughty. I wonder.....

Received a call tonight from "Three" stating trying to keep customers after poor customer feedback. Offered to cut my bill in half. Didn't trust it one but, but went along with it waiting to be asked for personal information. Got put through to senior manager to complete "deal" when I asked why at no point had he or his colleague addressed me by name, he said he could give out names for security reasons (but they had already asked how much I paid last month to confirm I was account holder) then when I asked why the number I was being called from comes up as a Furniture supplier called Defrae in Croydon, 020********, got some random reason. He said he would be happy to call me back on the official Three number. He then sent a 4 digit security code via text. I'm confused, is this an actual scam. Because if it's genuine, you need to upskill you customer service team to put a customers mind at ease than how the 2 I spoke to did.

Hi ktails. It is a scam. But to make it sound convincing. They actually use the security operations of three.
Example. I could have your mobile no. I ask you do u have the 3app. How often do u check it.
I can put in my 3app. Ur mobile no. Tell you I'm sending u a txt with a 4 digit code.... which is the normal protocol when dealing with actual 3. Once I've clicked send on my screen. It will send u the code. Because it is ur no. that is registered. I ask u to tell me the security code. I enter it. Now I have full control of ur account.
Change email. Change password. Change address. Order a few phones to my address. Look up the banking details on your account. Order a few things with ur card.
This is how it works.
What three should do is get rid of this OTP request on the log in page.
Remember all 3customer services should have access to ur account with or without needing to verify a code.
