5G Broadband dropouts

MacDavidson

Hi folks,

So I got Three’s 5G broadband and get great speeds, with great coverage around the house. But at various times each day (for no apparent reason), it just disappears from being available as a wifi device for around 10 minutes, or until reset. The Mac connected by CAT7 cable is unaffected, and all lights remain as they should.

I’ve positioned the router in various places, tried changing the APN from 3internet to three.co.uk, and reset several times.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I have 2.4 and 5 GHz on at the same time? 2.4 GHz is slower, but I need that for the smart gadgets in the house, but speed is what it’s all about…

Thanks in advance for your time

Ive been having this issue for weeks since upgrading to the zte router l with no fix in sight and working from home, ive had to go out and buy another huawei cpe pro which is the router i had before changing to the zte and now everything is fine again, no drop outs, no speed issues in fact everything is better apart from the £180 missing from my wallet to buy the hub which i shouldnt of had too!

Me too. Ever since October I’ve been having constant dropouts. Every imaginable setting I’ve tried it. Closed one contract. Opened a new one. Changed the router one more time. The same issue. If i call three, they aren’t even aware of this forum that has 5 pages of people with the same problem. Its really frustrating how clueless three is about its problems. This thread should be a priority because its not an isolated case. It affects some ppl who have that specific zte router with b12 update.

Is there anyone that doesn’t have the same problem? With zte router?

So I haven't noticed a drop out in about 5 or 6 days. Has a fix been deployed or a software patch applied?

Is everyone else still seeing issues?

Hi. I've got the same issue with ZTE router after update to b12. It looks like similar problem like it was months ago. Three had to reverse update to fix the problem. How long it will take l?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for confirming those settings aren't relevant to the drops. I've passed this feedback on and will let you know as soon as there's any further updates.

Hi JonathanB,

Is there any update at all on the potential resolution for this as I am not sure I can take many more conversations with Three support asking me if I have tried rebooting my router.

I tested again on the weekend with the following results:
Three 5G SIM in Huawei CPE Pro2 = +300Mbps
Three 5G SIM in Samsung S20 Ultra = +450Mbps
Three 5G SIM in Three ZTE Router = 11Mbps

Three really needs to get a handle on this as unfortunately the Three 5G service via the ZTE hub is currently unusable.

Same here - I have had Wi-Fi awake settings set to Disabled for over a month.
I cannot see a DFS Switch, but maybe this is in the WiFi settings.
My setup is that the ZTE router is used as a bridge to my mesh WiFinetwork, so the inbuilt WiFi isn't even enabled at all.

Hi, so I've opened 192.168.0.1 in my web browser. Under "Advanced Settings", "Wi-Fi Awake Settings" was already disabled, "Single SSID" was already enabled and "Guest SSID Switch" was already disabled. Under "Wi-Fi Settings" > "Advanced Settings", "DFS Switch" was also already disabled... also, when dropouts have occurred, I can still connect to 192.168.0.1 over WiFi.

As @Hovertree has stated, I am already using these suggested settings and am still having dropouts.
