Past week or so there have been multiple latency issues while gaming on the PS5 or in general. Typically while gaming, I would average 30-50 ping but this past week I’ve been averaging 150ms and sometimes it may even spike to 600ms depending on the game. Also, I’ve experienced some packet loss and the game stuttering, freezing at certain points.
Through visiting the router through 192.168.1.1 on my web browser, I headed over to System Information which displayed 2.4g (201mbps) and 5g (1201mbps) which isn’t representative at all as I have just done a test on Ookla which said 450mbps. I’m not sure if download speed determines the latency while gaming but thats the result.
Additionally I have tried researching ways to fix it and it said UPnP? Im not sure what that is.
So far I have factory reset the Router, left it unplugged for a while and have turned it on/off multiple times to see if that fixes the issue. Nothing helped fix it.

I’m facing the exact same issue, started Monday this week for me, although to be fair I wasn’t gaming about a week prior.
all other devices (general web browsing, phone and video streaming) are fine, does anyone know what causes these latency/lag spikes and how to fix?

Having the same issues as everyone else here. Based in Fife so sounds like a national issue! Ping and packet loss have been atrocious. Have dropped to 4g and that hasn’t changed anything still lagging and obviously the download speeds are much lower!

Facing the same problem here, matching the same time this started occurring. Nothing in Service Status page.

Same issue and same router

Same issue with a similar time frame, was all fine before.

Hi @SquigglyJ,
Sorry to hear this, are there any signs of local issues on our Network Status Checker?
Have you been able to test either of the suggested workarounds of @AzMar around trying 4G, or from Slow Xbox gaming speeds where trying the three.co.uk APN helped?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Here to say that i'm experiencing the exact same issue for the past 4 days or so, random ping spikes in games and in discord while the download speed is still good around 500 to 600 mbs،
Forcing the router to use 4g only resolved the ping issue but reduces the download speed considerably down to 40 mbs,

Hi @AzMar,
Thanks for sharing your feedback and this workaround. There's another suggestion that looks like it could be the same issue on Slow Xbox gaming speeds around changing to the three.co.uk APN. This won't be suitable for all Broadband set ups, but may help keep you connected to 5G.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hello there.
It's disappointing to hear you're having issues. Packet loss would explain all of the issues you've experienced, and since you've verified that there is packet loss, I think it would be best to try and figure out what's causing that, in the hopes that resolving that will resolve the other issues.
UPnP wouldn't be related to the issues you're having, that's just a feature for opening and closing ports automatically, it doesn't affect the quality or performance of existing connections.
The first thing worth checking is the network in the area to see if there's any known faults or problems. Things like congestion, maintenance, or a fault on a local mast could cause packet loss. You can run a check using the Service Status page.
Another thing worth trying is placing the 5G Hub in different areas of the house. Near windows is always beneficial, and it's worth trying different sides of the house if possible.
Pete.
