No push notifications when connected to wifi

Hi ,

I have a ZTE MC801A router which i recieved from three when i signed up to the 5g hub internet when i moved into my new house. Since then i have not recieved push notifications through to my phone, neither has my girlfriend. When we disconnect from the wifi and to 4G roaming we recieve all the notifications we should have at once. This also means our Google Hello doorbell does not work - it does not send notifications through on home when we are connected to wifi and also means we do not hear the doorbell as it wont send a chime through to the Google Mini speaker. Ive tried port fowarding Port 5228, reset to factory settings, enabled UPNP and reset the Google Home devices with no luck.... Any idea?

@macdog @maxf have been having the same issue, yet still no fix or communication from Three on this. 

A list of fixes: 

Port fowarded ports 5228-5230 and 443, which seems to have helped, but with a hardcoded maximum 10 rules in the router this means a maximum of 5 devices (2 rules per device for the port ranges) and this still does not fix my google hello doorbell not sending notifications when phones are on home wifi or notifictions through to the nest mini. 

@maxf found that notifications worked when using a VPN

@macdog took the router away for the holidays to (presumably) another part of the country  and the notifications were working and have since seemed to work when they have returned home too. 

it seems that connectivity tests to the Google Firecloud Messaging Service performed by @macdog show no signs of being blocked, although this certainly seems to be the issue as apps rely on this to send push notifications through and fowarding ports used by the FCM service to devices solves the issue to some degree.

Any update Three???

Hello, I am having the same problem. The moment I walk out of my house away from the 5G router, my phone goes mad with notifications. I've had the router since about September last year, but I have only recently noticed this strange behaviour, well just before Christmas. It might not be deal breaking for me, but it is very much a black mark against using mobile data for home broadband.

My phone is Remi Note 11 on the giff gaff network, which I think is O2, but I am not that technical. Would love to hear something from Three about a possible fix.

I have the same issue, 5g router, both my phone and my partners does not receive notifications while on wifi.

Hi guys. I'm having the same issue. I haven't tried any testing, but no notifications when connected to my 5g router, which all start coming through as soon as I disconnect from the WiFi. I'm very close to changing providers because I've almost used up all my mobile data for the month.

Sorry to hear. The issue doesn't seem to have been fixed yet. Maybe @JonathanB has an update for us.

Phoning three on 500 from my three mobile I got the adult filters removed. No I get all my notifications. This is probably why it's affecting phones now as well.

Had the exact same issue and getting all adult filters removed fixed it. Thanks for sharing the solution!

Thanks for this insight, we're still trying to narrow down how widespread this is, and the root cause. If anyone else can test this solution and let us know that'd really help. It's certainly not expected behaviour for the adult filter to affect push notifications, but if we can get confirmation and data from more users it may help identify what's going wrong.

Have the exact same issue. Removed the adult filter and it worked as normal. But the adult filter turned on by itself for some reason and now the issue is back.
