iOS 18.2 - WiFi calling not working anymore

Kevvvy

Since updating to iOS 18.2 I’ve been unable to use WiFi calling on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I’m When it is enabled I cannot make or received calls. My cell quality is noticeably poorer when I have this option disabled. Can anyone help with this? I’ve even tried using the Beta 18.3 and it hasn’t fixed the issue.

Thanks for your reply

Yep I’ve done all that. I’ve actually fixed the issue for now

Looked on the Sky community page and it mentioned changing the WiFi security level. This never worked but it made me think about the type of fix I always ask people to try in my own job. I forgot the WiFi name and password and then readded. Job done.

Hi @Ashley90,

Sorry if it sounds like we're asking you to repeat yourself, but if I'm following correctly, you're saying that you can't make or receive calls when you have Wi-Fi switched on.

I.e calls simply do not work at all if Wi-Fi is toggled on, but you can be in the same location with Wi-Fi off and it'll make/receive the call over 4G?

I'm just trying to clear this up, as the OP's topic was specifically a problem with Wi-Fi calling, and it may be confusing matters.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Okay, WiFi calling only becomes active or kicks in if the cellular signal strength is not good enough. So do you see anything in your status bar saying something like 3 WiFi calling? Below is an example from Vd,

Similar situation here - does anyone know the cause of the problem yet as I've been trying everything without success?

Hello there.

Welcome to the Three Community.

It's unclear what might be causing the Wifi calling not to work. Does the Wifi calling work for you when you go into airplane mode on the phone? Doing this disconnects the mobile network, leaving Wifi as the only option for the phone, and sometimes kicks the feature into action.

Pete.

Hi @Kevvvy,

Sorry to hear about this issue with your Wi-Fi calling, but glad to hear that you were able to narrow things down somewhat to the router. I just wanted to clarify are normal voice calls working when you have sufficient coverage for this?

If so, it may be worth checking with the ISP if it's just that one specific Wi-Fi connection affected and you can still make normal calls over mobile signal.

Thanks,
Jonathan
