Intermittent problems making or receiving calls

Megmeghello
Fledgling

Hello I updated my phone to the iphone 16 pro just over a month ago and have been having problems making and receiving calls this last week but only on the occasion.

Most of the time my calls will go through with no issues and then occasionally I will get a call and not realise until I receive a message saying I have a voicemail or a message from the person contacting me to ask why I haven’t answered. I never receive a notification for the missed call and find I can’t call them back when I try.
There is no error message no dial tone nothing and I will have signal the whole time. I can use data/wifi fine to facetime them back and can still receive messages.
I have turned off live voicemail but that hasn’t improved and there is sometimes a long delay between dialling and connecting. I am worried because if I need to make a call in an emergency and this happens at the time I will be completely vulnerable.

Hi there

My phone has been doing this for several months now 😡 It’s intermittent and happens when I’m connected to Wi-Fi. And found out this is also happen to close friends of mine, who are also with Three ! People have been ringing me , and getting an automated (Not my pre-recorded) message and sent to my mail box. And I’m getting a very strange method/way of having to try and access these messages (not through the normal way) And I can’t ring out… I then need to disconnect from the Wi-Fi switch to airplane mode for 10seconds , then call whilst still disconnected from Wi-Fi. This is not a Wi-Fi issue , this is to do with Three. Like I stated earlier , a close friend and her daughter (both with three) are having the same issues, which have been going on a good while. So please sort this out…

Hi Mark,

That's really odd that you've mentioned your Voicemail being different when this happens, do you mean Live Voicemail, as described in this article: Introducing Live Voicemail

You mentioned the issue is intermittent, so it's not every time that you're connected to Wi-Fi, but you have been any time that you've noticed that you're missing calls?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hello, Meg.

Oh, that's quite strange. I'm unsure what would be causing that to happen on a new phone. I'm assuming the last phone you had didn't have this issue?

It might be worth trying to complete a reset of the network settings, found within the Reset menu options on iPhones. This will ensure all network settings are optimal. If that doesn't help, I'd recommend trying to disable the Wifi calling feature on the phone in order to rule out any possible issues caused by that feature, then test again for a while.

Pete.

Hi, I have the same issue and so does my daughter.  We are both on three network.  This started when three had the outage and no one could receive or dial. It seems that I am still unable to receive or make calls and have to revert to WhatsApp etc.

I have been with three for around 15years and when my renewal is up I’m taking g both my contracts to another provider, just had enough of three’s unreliability.

Im paying for a service that I am unable to use.

Hi, Naf.

It's disappointing to hear you're having issues with calling.

Can you confirm which phones you are both using? Can you also confirm if you're always having the issue, like when you're out and about, or if it's specific to when you're home, or something like that?

Pete.
