Pac code scam

Seanw
Fledgling

I recieved a one time validation code as as a text message followed my a pac code, none of which I had requested. I contacted three through online chat and they were unable to cancel the pac code request as it had already been started to port to another network of the scammer. They said that it was a phone call but didn't tell how they bypassed security to allow three to give them the code.

My phone went off 24hours later and still no info. The scammer has tried resetting my bank passwords using my number.

I've obtained a crime reference number but just waiting now, how likely am I for three to retrieve the number and will I be able to go back to my original old contract with go roam included as I'm just getting messages about sorry you left when it was threes lax security that has caused all me the problems.

Thanks

We are going through the same thing, The response from 3 is unbelievable in that they aren't really bothered. We have also no idea of how they got through security.  In our case, the scammer has had the number now for five days and are still using it.  3 don't seem to be putting much effort into contacting the new provider and blocking the phone, never mind getting the number back.  I am beyond anxious with all this.

Hello Sean.

That's not good at all. I'm sorry to hear that's happened to you.

Recovering the number and account is part of the process that takes place once the issue has been reported to the support team. It's difficult to determine how long the process will take as an investigation will need to be done.

I hope that the team have some good news for you soon.

Pete.
