There are several reasons that may be causing your problems.
The system is terrible. Your are returning to 3 and you are using a previously registered email. You are using a number that you are bringing back to 3.
Only option is to contact our dear friends at customer services.

Yes I have and as regards the mention of Trustpilot,I’ve seen the reviews myself previously and I can’t disagree with what the guy says. By the way my mention to you about cynicism was entirely tongue in cheek!

You weren't wrong. I've only got 2 weeks to go then I'm off to O2. 3 have improved over the last 2 years but O2 seem better after my testing.

Can’t say I blame you. It’s a shame about Three because their coverage in my area of West Norfolk is far superior to any of the others. They are the only one to have 5g in my nearest large town. But the fact that the customer service in the main is dire (depending on whom you get to speak to) spoils everything. And don’t get me started on network reliability. I’m STILL having to turn flight mode off and on periodically and that includes when using WiFi calling. 🤷♂️
