Swapping two numbers between Three sims

Hi, I have what I feel is a simple request but is turning out to be a trickier request that thought. I have two sims with Three, one is on a rolling monthly contract(SIM1), the other is a free PAYG (SIM2).

I am happy with my current deal on SIM1 but would like a new number. THREE can change the number for me but I would like to keep the old number on a different SIM card in case I require it for any security checks I’ve missed updating.

I thought that one of two options might be available:

1) Three change the number of SIM1 with the contract and send me a new sim with my old number as a PAYG

2) I swap the numbers of SIM1 & SIM2

I am being told instead by live chat that I must cancel my contract first to move SIM1 to PAYG. I can then get a new contract but on a worse deal as it is a new plan not an upgrade?

These can’t be the only options surely otherwise I may as well just cancel and get my actual contact elsewhere as I’m no longer getting my “loyal customer” deal from THREE.

Hello there.

Welcome to the Three Community.

Knowing the right answer here can be tricky, as the options available will depend on the types of accounts you have. So I can get a better idea of what you have, and the options we might have, I'll drop you a DM asking you for some additional details.

Pete.

@PeteG- I came across this older post. Were you able to confirm that numbers can be swapped between SIMs on one account?

Many years ago, I remember Orange was able to do this.

@sc1999that would be the post that my reply is in; @PeteG was simply tagged for attention.

It does not sound like something that 3 gets asked everyday so not surprised that they don't have a stock solution.
