Speed drop

JuniorMorgan
Fledgling

I got the home broadband on the 22/12/23 and from then till the 10/1/24 I have been getting speeds to 352Mbps and as of this weekend it's went down to 112mbps and the tech support says there is nothing wrong with the router or my area and they offered to cancel the contract but I don't want to.

There must be something going on that's making the speeds drop as I use the 5G connection not the 2.4G

I assume  by 5g and 2.4g you mean 5GHz and 2.4GHz. I use BT FTTP and the range of 5GHz is quite limited. Is it possible that devices are intermittently dropping to the 2.4GHz band .

If your devices are still connecting to 5Ghz, use a phone/tablet with 5Ghz wifi and see if the Wifi Analyzer app shows neighbouring networks interfering.

Can you connect using gigabit ethernet to see what speeds you get?
