ZTE MC801a - Buying From Three

WONKYD
Fledgling

I have been told I can buy the ZTE MC801a that came with my Three contract but I'm not sure whether they are locked to Three as a network.

I travel for work so want to take it to Europe with me in my motorhome and use a local sim.

I put a Vodafone UK sim in it and it didn't recognise it or the network but put inan ID sim (Three backbone) and it worked fine.
Anyone help me with whether it's locked or not

Hello.

The ZTE Hub that's provided from Three as part of the contracts is not sold by Three. Those devices are expected to be returned at the end of those contacts. I would expect that these devices are locked.

If you can purchase one of those routers from ZTE or somewhere else where it has not originally been supplied by Three, it should work just fine as an unlocked device.

Pete.
