4g LTE calling

Can all users here please help. I have a sim free Moto g62 5g. When making a call the phone stays on 5g BUT the internet becomes dial up speeds lol. Further investigation reveals that 4g LTE super voice is not working. HALF my research says you have to be on a device purchased from three (flashed with three's firmware indicated by the three logo when booting device). Also you must be on pay monthly NOT pay as you go. Now three customer services adviser, escalation advisor, and manager all insist the opposite. That volte works in any device that is volte compatible (Moto g62 5g it is and has had volte working on another provider). That volte works on pay as you go and the most confusing on any device sim free or from three. Now I understand that whilst some may think I am been petty let me explain why volte is so important and some more confussion. At the start of this issue I was under the impression that an "HD" logo next to the call was indicating volte but it is not the case, the HD logo is "EVS" and is when 2 handsets communicate regardless of 3g 4g 5g volte. Now here's the situation the fault the issue. You have a windows laptop and several other devices connected to Moto g62 5g using hotspot. All fantastic getting 300mb on average and hitting 1gb some days, AWESOME BUT a call comes in on the Moto g62 5g, Moto stays on 5g call is answered now connection drops to 500 kbps say 2 to 5 mb at best. Now I believe this is what volte is ment to solve as it routes your call and text as data over 4g. So one would expect with so much available bandwidth on 5g and even 4g is at 70 to 90mb that you should be able to call and browse with maybe a small reduction in speed whilst been switched down from 5g to 4gvolte. END I will update as required. P.s also is volte available across three network or only certain locations ? reality is in 2022 I am having to use my setup like it's 1999 and I am dialing up to be told "you have mail" lol if your getting on you will remember that.

So just to update volte and WiFi calling do NOT work still even though the option is selected. I tried ee and all works. It is not device, only thing is ee does not have 5g in my part of Birmingham which is strange so yet another issue tech hahaha sometimes I wonder if it is worth all the hassle. Pics included as proof !

Hey @Kevbur123,

That's really disappointing to hear, I'm hopeful we can still figure this out though. Can you walk me through the tests you've done?

Was there supposed to be more than one image, I can only see one of you selecting WiFi calling to take priority over mobile network?

Let me know and I'll see what else we can do to help.

Yeah was loads of images but decided the one showing volte next to signal and enable WiFi calling showed enough. I can assure you that volte logo does not appear with three and as further testing is showing neither the mvno smarty. But with EE the the volte logo and WiFi calling are all there and work as should. This issue will unfortunately force me to use a slower more expensive service just because of volte. Also I was told in that three uses supervoice not volte..please!

Can I ask that this issue is escalated to deadlock so I can take the issue up. Only way for this like a lot of things in this country is to complain more. My research shows this forum headache inducing 4g calling is what the networks have been told to peddle. I expect to insert sim and thing works. No wonder apple keeps things with its software and devices so secure and under control, stops things like this.

Hi @Kevbur123

I've sent you a private message regarding this request for a deadlock.

Thanks,

UDATE Well I am genuinely shocked. Rebooted device today checked setting by chance and GOOD NEWS use 4g calling and WiFi calling on off options. Can I just say I don't know how why but do not care. Issue is resolved thanks three and apologies for getting frustrated at times. Now let's see if volte actually activates when calling out and about and I will accept solution.

Glad to hear it @Kevbur123, please let us know how this goes.

Also sorry if there was any misunderstanding on the last response, when I suggested a Mifi/Router that was more in response to this part of your original post:

"You have a windows laptop and several other devices connected to Moto g62 5g using hotspot"

I wouldn't expect you to connect a 5G handset to WiFi/Hotspot on the same network it's already using for mobile data anyway, that suggestion was more in terms of keeping the laptop and other devices on a strong speed when the phone receives or makes a call.

Fingers crossed for when you test this out!

Can anyone please explain what "RCC state in error". I believe this can cause volte and WiFi calling to not work. I have Googled the issue after having issues with 4g calling.

You can see this by dialing * * 4636 * * and looking in 5g debug info. Also in phone information you can see 5g and 4g status in real time, which shows if you are truly utilizing volte whilst making a call.

Hey @Kevbur123,

I'll do my best to help, can you clear something up for me? Is the Moto g62 one that was supplied unlocked on an open android firmware, or is it on another provider's firmware? If you can let me know this, and your software version, I'll be able to check in with a device specialist.

Thanks,
JonathanB
