Can't make calls

Fledgling

I struggle to make basic phone calls. Often when I am at home. Calls either cut out completely, person on the other end can't hear me, or the call can't even go through (just hangs up).

Wi-Fi calling doesn't work. I believe this is something to do with Virgin Media as it works fine on my work WIFI. When I switch off WiFi I still have problems.

I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere. I live in a large village (if you can call it that) just a mile away from my local town centre. It also says I should have no problems with coverage on the Three coverage checker.

Can anyone help or offer advice as this is really irritating? What if I need to call 999!

I use a Samsung Galaxy S23 (contract).

Thanks.

Hi @NoName123456__@Luna277,

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with your calls. It's possible the recent 3G switch offs may be a factor here. Let me know if the suggestions on How to ensure your phone is ready for the 3G switch off help.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I have the same issue. No calls go through recieved or calling. No texts send or recieve and no internet. Only works on WiFi. I'm also on a Samsung s23 ultra. I have also reset the apn and used airplane mode etc. It doesn't fix it. I'm going to try the sim in a different phone to see if that works, and upgrade the software.

Welcome to the Three's users forum.

So coverage OK, WiFi and cellular calls OK when you are at the office and town centre and exception is in your village.

Might not switch to WiFi calls or even display it at home because the network signal strength is good enough to keep on cellular network. Have you tried: a) toggle off and on the WiFi calling option? b) to switch on aeroplane mode on an then switch on the WiFi only? (Don't forget to switch off aeroplane mode when you leave home)

Is this 4G or 5G? In your phone settings, 3 or network settings menu, have you tried to select just 4G or 5G as preferred type instead of automatic selection?

Have tried your SIM in a different handset?

You can try to install something like Net analyzer app or similar to get and and share here the details about cellular/ signal strength,...

Emergency calls should be fine because they work in a slight different way.
