Data roaming in Monaco

ptrs
Fledgling

After checking the Three website, I have noticed that Monaco is not within the Three roaming agreement, meaning that enormous charges would apply when using roaming in Monaco. This, however, is not the case in France, where being a legacy contract holder I receive 12GB of reasonable usage per day.

My question is, would it be in any way possible to manually select a French network to be able to use my allowance as if I was in France, bypassing the Monaco Telecom towers, or will Three be aware that I am in Monaco and charge me regardless? It's probably much safer to simply disable roaming and use WiFi, but if anyone is sure or has done this before, any information or advice would be great.

Thanks.

Hello, ptrs.

Welcome to the Three Community.

This wouldn't work, sadly. If you're connecting to a French network that's operating within another Country, like Monaco, you would be charged based on your location. This is because the mast you are connected to will be registered in Monaco and not France.

Pete.
