Using the Wifi Calling app and it is saying that because switches are greyed out VoLTE provisioning is not available.
Is it anything to do with being on PAYG? 🙄 Or is anything to do with our 5G mobile router using a Three data SIM 😐

Hello there.
Wifi calling on Three no longer uses an app. There was an app a long time ago before Wifi calling standards were finalised on the network, but that no longer works with Wifi calling being standard on most devices now. Instead of using the app, check the phones calling settings within the dialler app to see if Wifi calling is supported on your device.
Pete.

Hi Pete, thanks. The app Wifi Calling is now uninstalled. What kicked this off was phoning someone and being cut off, lack of credit whilst under the impression that VoLTE was working. As it turns out the app said it was not available, what it did do was add two sub menus about the way VoLTE works when either there is no network but wifi is available and vica versa, these sub menus are not there when one turns on the android wifi calling switch. I guess if wifi calling was not available the switch would be greyed out. So a bit of a mystery as to why I ran out of credit when the perception was that it was working. 🙂

Calls made over Wifi Calling are chargeable, basically considered the same as if you made the call over the Three mobile network. Feels a bit wrong as it's using your home internet connection/wifi to route the call, but unfortunately that's how all the major networks do it.

It is what it is, if for instance one finds ones self in a steel clad shopping building (a faraday cage) where the three network signal is not there, then fair enough however, I wrote to the app developer who replied saying Wifi Calling was not available under PAYG. The rub is, if truly it was not available then the phones Wifi Calling switch should have been greyed out as is the case for Giffgaff phones. Giffgaff by the way openly declare that Wifi Calling is not available using there network. I my case the Three network was available and given Wifi Calling was not greyed out then it appears to be disingenuous upon the part of three to make it appear that it was. Three could take a more intelligent route: if the Three network is not there then re-enable the Wifi Calling switch, othewise grey it out. 🤔 🙂

Sorry, I'm really confused now. The old "wifi calling" app by Three was called "Three inTouch" which allowed Three customers to use their minutes in areas there was no signal or weak/intermittent signal, but it's been discontinued for a long time now at this point and I can't find it on Google Play.
Could you tell us what is the name of the app you are using? Sounds like a 3rd party app and I'm kinda curious as to how it works 😕
