No push notifications when connected to wifi

Hi ,

I have a ZTE MC801A router which i recieved from three when i signed up to the 5g hub internet when i moved into my new house. Since then i have not recieved push notifications through to my phone, neither has my girlfriend. When we disconnect from the wifi and to 4G roaming we recieve all the notifications we should have at once. This also means our Google Hello doorbell does not work - it does not send notifications through on home when we are connected to wifi and also means we do not hear the doorbell as it wont send a chime through to the Google Mini speaker. Ive tried port fowarding Port 5228, reset to factory settings, enabled UPNP and reset the Google Home devices with no luck.... Any idea?

Phoning three on 500 from my three mobile I got the adult filters removed. No I get all my notifications. This is probably why it's affecting phones now as well.

Its not helped for me, turning off Adult filters, which you can do yourself when you manage your account online. If you look at the thread I started @JonathanB , you'll see the issues I face. The 3Internet APN works (set to IPV4) for DDNS & Port forwarding. However it blocks my google nest mini, the google authenticator app from cloud syncing.. It also stops the android Discord app from updating feeds and even stops the Three Mobile app from launching.

This is a serious and long term issue that Three have failed to address.

It seems the only work around is to change the Routers APN to three.co.uk, which fixes many of the app issues on a wifi connected android handset.

The issue here is that port forwarding and ddns then fail to work.

I'm still in my 30 day cooling off period as a new customer, and am very tempted to cancel as at the moment there are far to may issues cropping up. Its a shame too as the download speed I get is good, and my options are limited for internet where I live.

I don't think the problem has been fixed. I've had a 5G hub since late January, and have the same problem. Firstly, with a Google Pixel phone that had no problems with my previous ISP. But secondly with an Alcatel phone I'm using whilst my other phone is repaired. (Although reading this thread, there probably isn't anything on the phone that needs repairing.)

Hi @jap72,

Based on what other customers have shared calling 500 from a Three phone, or 0333 338 1003 from another line and asking the Broadband team to remove the adult filters from the account seems to help with this issue.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Did this problem ever get a solid fix by Three? It looks like these posts are fairly old now but I've just got the 5G broadband router and have this exact problem!

I can confirm turning the adult content filter off in my account fixed my notifications issues. Thanks for the heads up, I would have never have thought of this in relation to the fault.

For anyone who stumbles upon this forum. I have since left three because of this issue. I am now with talktalk braodband which has none of these issues. Best of luck.

Hello all, hopefully I don't have to rescind my solution quite so quickly this time. Here is what I've done in the last 24hrs that tentatively seem to have done the trick.

Google/Nest devices... In the router settings I have changed the apn settings from auto to manual. I initially changed the apn to three.co.uk which worked, but I've since trialled and been successful with 3internet as long as it's manually selecting l selected. If I return to auto, the smart devices cease working fully again.

Push notifications, I have changed Android phone settings to use a 'private dns' by the name of dns.google. I'm not sure what this means but it seems to have done the trick.

Both these settings changes were suggested on this forum as a solution for a Netflix issue but I thought to give them a try with so far positive results.

Good luck y'all.

I am also having this exact issue with my 4G hub. Technical support were unable to help me and kept putting me on hold to speak with their second line and still nothing. me and my partner both have google pixel phones. No notifcations come through unless i unlock the phone, which some will then come in, however not all. I have to turn the wifi off in order to get the rest which include ring doorbell, CCTV, emails and social media notifications.  Has anyone actually found a resolution to this issue yet?

just to add we have had our adult filter removed and this has NOT made a difference. it's been over 2 weeks.
